As an important player in Africa, it’s a natural choice for Brussels Airlines and many staff members to support humanitarian organisations active on the black continent. Brussels Airlines gives first priority to the children by having UNICEF and SOS Children's Village as global partners. 

Brussels Airlines and UNICEF are partners since 2003. In the course of these 4 years, our support has resulted in more than eur 420.000 (gift in kind). 

How are we supporting UNICEF? 

We provide UNICEF with a yearly travel credit of eur 25.000, in return for which Brussels Airlines receives visibility through the various UNICEF channels. Thanks to the Miles Donation Programme (whereby Privilege members can donate miles to UNICEF), the organisation has collected not less than 10.841.000 miles in one year time. The well-known 'blue bag' project of our cabin crew collects toys, clothes and material for the children of Sierra Leone. And last but not least, we support UNICEF campaigns and emergencies through our media tools. 

What is the result of these 4 years of support? 

Thanks to Brussels Airlines, UNICEF Belgium has used the yearly travel credit 4 times (= eur 100.000). Thanks to the Privilege programme and the generosity of the members, UNICEF has benefited from a eur 320.513 cost saving. Combined this represents a total gift in kind of eur 420.513. 

The equivalent of what our donation has provided since 2003: 

• 1.233 "schools in the box" in case of emergencies 
• 1.682.042 vaccine doses against polio 
• 1.005.000 saved children with sachets of oral rehydratation salts
